DGAFAAE: The 7 Letters That Changed How I Show Up
Everyone Cares… Until They Don’t
It’s human nature to care what others think. We want to be liked. We don’t want to look awkward or out of place.
But scroll through TikTok or Instagram and you’ll see people doing the weirdest, boldest things — and owning it. They’ve stopped caring about judgment. They’re in full DGAF mode… and often getting paid for it.
Me? I’m not fully there yet. I still think about how I sound, how I look, and whether my message is perfect. But I’m showing up anyway — even if it’s my fourth take of the day.
Why I Keep Saying It
Every time I record a video, publish a post, or speak publicly about personal growth, mindset, or whatever’s on my mind, I catch myself worrying:
Is the lighting okay?
Is that crooked wall behind me distracting?
Can people see the pile of Hot Wheels in the background?
Did I say “um” too many times?
Most of these things don’t matter to anyone else. But in my head, they become excuses not to hit publish.
That’s when I remind myself: DGAFAAE. This is about progress, not perfection.
Will I Ever Fully Not Care?
Maybe, maybe not.
I value other people’s opinions — probably more than I should. I don’t need to overanalyze why; I just need to manage it. And part of managing it is caring less over time.
For someone like me — who’s never been a big sharer or a “document everything” kind of person — this is new territory. But it’s teaching me a lot.
Why I’m Telling You This
If you’ve been holding back from speaking up, starting something, or putting yourself out there, maybe you need these six letters too:
DGAFAAE — Don’t Give A Fuck About Anyone Else.
Not because you’re arrogant, but because your story, your growth, and your perspective deserve to be heard — even if it’s imperfect.
So here’s my challenge: keep showing up. Do it scared. And keep saying DGAFAE until you believe it.
